Ongoing – Provision of Survey Vessel – Seagreen Wind Energy Limited

IDP has been contracted to supply its survey vessel, MV Clupea, on a three month winter contract for Seagreen Wind Energy Limited, a partnership between between SSE Renewables (part of Scottish and Southern Energy plc) and Fluor Limited, the UK operating arm of Fluor Corporation. The vessel is currently undertaking bird surveys for 15 days per month at the site of the proposed Round 3 Site at the Firth of Forth.

During the contract, with the consent of Seagreen, IDP was able to secure additional work for the vessel for a third party, reducing the financial burden to its client.

12/09 - Provision of Vessels and Logistical Support – The Danish Geotechnical Institute

Following on from a successful campaign at the Lincs Offshore Windfarm, IDP was contracted once again by the Danish Geological Institute to support a drilling campaign at the site of the Kentish Flats Offshore Windfarm. During this project, IDP chartered the flat bottomed barge Oceanteam Installer and tug on a bareboat basis, providing marine crews to operate these vessels throughout the project on behalf of GEO.

08 – Project Management and Logistical Support – The Danish Geological Institute

IDP were contracted by the Danish Geological Institute (GEO) to provide project management services and logistical assistance in support of a series of geotechnical site investigations at the site of the Lincs Windfarm, located 5 kilometres offshore the Lincolnshire Coast.

The mobilisation required a 500 ton mobile crane, one of the largest ever used in the port of Great Yarmouth, to install the 50 metre legs of the jackup platform “Sound Prospector,” which had been removed prior to the vessel’s transit from Denmark.

Stephen Horne, a Director at IDP, commented, “this three month project demonstrates IDP’s commitment to support the growing offshore renewables industry, and demonstrates the company’s ability to add value to its clients projects, providing project management expertise and focussed and robust support during a wide variety of offshore survey and geotechnical tasks.”

Summer 2009 – 3D Offshore Site Investigation Support – IMC Geophysics

IDP were contracted by IMC Geophysics to provide vessel and marine management services in support of a three month 3D Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) survey programme offshore the Boulby Mining Plant on the North East Coast of the UK. The survey was conducted to identify and map new seams of Potash extending under the North Sea on behalf of Cleveland Potash Limited, owners of the mine.

IDP provided source and listening vessels in support of the operation, including the company’s recently refitted survey vessel, MV Clupea, and the chartered vessel MV Finder. Three additional support vessels were used to assist with the deployment, movement and recovery of streamers. In addition, IDP mobilised a positioning and navigation system onboard the listening vessel, interfacing this to IMC Geophysics’ Sonardyne underwater positioning system.

IDP provided logistical and agency support throughout the survey programme, ensuring IMC Geophysics were able to focus on the acquisition of data throughout the campaign.

February / March 2009 – Caspian Sea Site Investigation – Chase Mandro Limited

On behalf of Chase Mandro Group and the National Iranian Oil Company, IDP conducted a series of geophysical site investigations at locations in the Caspian Sea to assess soil conditions prior to the exploration operations to be conducted by a semi-submersible drilling platform. A locally chartered vessel, MV Gulian, was located and subsequently audited in the Port of Bandar Anzali in January 2009, with mobilisation commencing during early February with positioning systems, heading and motion sensors, singlebeam echosounder, USBL system and Edgetech 2000-DSS combined sidescan sonar and sub-bottom profiler. Over-side brackets were designed and manufactured by IDP and subsequently freighted to Iran, where the company’s personnel supervised rigging using a local contractor.

Survey operations were conducted in water depths of up to 800 metres over a three week period. The sidescan sonar data highlighted a number of seabed feature, including mud volcanoes and renting of the seabed caused by gas emissions, while the Chirp data identified numerous shallow gas deposits which could present a hazard to drilling operations.

12/09 – iXSea Limited

IDP were contracted by iXSea Limited to provide marine consultancy services and technical assistance in support of mobilisation of an iXSea Shadows Synthetic Aperture Sonar onboard the Gardline Vessel, “Ocean Surveyor,” in Aberdeen prior to a series of trials for British Petroleum.
