James Holt, Managing Director IDP International

James Holt has in excess of 22 years experience working in the offshore industry, progressing quickly to Captain of foreign going survey vessels, engaged in seismic, site survey and geotechnical exploration. In 2002, James joined Under Water Technical Services, using his diverse experience to supervise vessel safety under the International Safety Management Code. In addition, James was responsible for the overall management of a number of large diving projects, including several marine cable installations.

James founded IDP in 2006 to provide the offshore market with alternative and innovative project solutions based on his marine survey, diving and project management expertise.

Steve Horne, Director IDP International

Steve’s 30 year marine career started with P&O as a Navigation officer, progressing to Ships Captain and Salvage Master for SMIT International. He then moved into the subsea cable industry, working for Alcatel Submarine Networks as a Senior Cable Engineer, responsible for cable route planning, survey, engineering and installation for major cable installation projects. As a project manager within the Alcatel group, Steve was responsible for the project management of marine assets, including vessels, ROV’s and Cable Ploughs. Steve subsequently started his own company, Cable and Marine, specialising in cable route surveys, installation and inspection services, achieving more than 50,000 kilometres of cable route survey, engineering and installation. Thereafter, Steve expanded the organisations’ offerings to include vessel management and marine consultancy for vessel conversions.

Peter Wilks, Managing Director IDP GeoSurvey

Peter Wilks graduated from Cardiff University in 1992 with a degree in Maritime Geography. Following his Undergraduate degree, Peter worked as a Hydrographic Surveyor for Associated British Ports at various sites around the UK. Peter graduated from CASS Business School in 2003 with an MBA in General and Strategic Management having spent nine years offshore, lastly as Party Chief of Fugro Survey’s transocean cable route vessel GeoProspector and 2D seismic survey vessel Svetlomar II. Following his degree, Peter successfully established the UK business iXSurvey Limited. He joined IDP in 2010.
